Jimmie Dean Litsch 1934~2017

Funeral service for Jimmie Dean Litsch, 82 year-old Fay resident, were held on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, in the Thomas High School Auditorium. Services were under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home of Thomas. Jim was born on March 14, 1934 to Alphonse and Ruth (Boyd) Litsch in Fay, Oklahoma and passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017 in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He was an active member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Thomas. Jim was raised and attended school in Fay, graduating Fay High School with the Class of 1952. After high school he attended Southwestern State College in Weatherford where he played basketball. He graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in 1956 and later his Master’s Degree. Jim is a member of both the Dewey County and SWOSU Athletic Hall of Fame. On August 10, 1956 he married Peggy Cook in Watonga, Oklahoma and they made their home in Fay. Jim was active in the Fay and Thomas schools for 34 years until his retirement in 1990. He was active as a rancher and farmer with his brother, Donald. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family—especially his grandchildren—and watching their games. He coached (and refereed) a lot of basketball games in his life—both on the court and from the stands and enjoyed watching all sporting events. Jim was the patriarch of the Fay community and was always willing to help anyone do anything at any time. He will be greatly missed by all. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SWOSU Foundation – Men’s Basketball Scholarship Fund. Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Litsch of the home in Fay, OK; two daughters, Kelli Litsch of Weatherford, OK and Staci Wechsler and husband, Bobby of Elk City, OK; and two grandchildren, Luke and Trent Lewallen. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald; and one sister, Kay.
