Marilyn Evalyn Owings was born January 13, 1936 to Wendell Waynne and Alice Mildred (Newer) Phillips in Geary, OK. She passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 at her home in Geary at the age of 80. Marilyn graduated from Geary High School and attended Oklahoma A&M University in Stillwater. She was united in marriage to Arthur A. Owings August 18, 1954 in Pampa, TX. She worked at the Geary Public Schools for 45 years working as Secretary and Activity Bus Driver, being honored at her retirement by the school for her years of service. She also enjoyed helping on the farm getting involved from driving the tractor and swathing hay to driving the wheat truck. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and all their activities, flowers, gardening, and crocheting, and as Arthur Allen called Marilyn being a “Professional Grandma.” Marilyn was a member of the First Christian Church for many years. Survivors include, her husband Arthur A. and Oreo both of the home, Geary; two children, Jiri Lusk and her husband Kenny of Hinton, and Phillip Owings and his wife Tiffany of Geary; nine grandchildren, Rob Seyler, Erik Winegeart and his wife Jessica, Tyler Winegeart and his fiancé Gabby, Taylor Brooks and her husband Jared, Gage, Logan, Baylor, Brady, and Hudson Owings; seven great-grandchildren, Trenton and Tayce, Madison and Kierstyn, Lila and Emma, and Michelle; niece, Deborah Mathews and her husband Mike and their family of Geary; and one brother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Waynne and Mildred Philips; daughter and son-in-law, Shari and Bobby Opitz; grandson, Micah Seyler, and one brother, Ronald Phillips. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, c/o cancer research.
