
Bennie “Ben” Louis Grishow was born July 10, 1926 at Gallup, New Mexico and passed away February 8, 2016 at the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 89 and a half. Ben was a resident of the Greenfield /Watonga communities for 70 plus years. He attended school in Colorado and Oklahoma, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the VFW, the American Legion and the Thoroughbred Horse Association. Ben was a farmer, and raised thoroughbred horses. He loved to fish, hunt quail, pheasant and train his bird dog. He loved to race his horses and raise his colts. Ben like music and loved to dance as well as spend time with family and friends; enjoying his family “get togethers”. n 1944 he was drafted in the United States Army, serving overseas in the Company F 114th Infantry. He fought in the European Theater, never talking much about his experience only stating that it was “bad”. On September 16, 1948 he married Delma Sue Chapman at Wichita Falls, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers-in-law. He is survived by his wife Sue of the home in Watonga; one daughter, Deborah Sue Jirik and husband Johnny of Cashion, OK; one sister, Natheline Ray of California; two granddaughters, Shannon Marie Cooksey and husband Kenny of Moore, OK and April Dawn Smith and husband Mark of Marshall, OK; two step grandchildren, Jennifer Dawn Bass and husband Jacob of Okc, OK and Justin Scott Jirik and wife Leah of Wichita, KS and great-grandchildren Madison Marie, Brooklyn Michelle, Mitchell Louis, Abigail Sweet Suttle, Ethan Cooksey, Taylor Gracy- Dawn Smith, Wyatt Cole, and Maggie Zoe Bass. As well as numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Ben were held Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Greenfield, Oklahoma with Rev. Dwight McGee officiating.
