Barbara Ann Glover was born October 28, 1946, at the family home in Bessemer, Alabama to Dorothy (Noe) and Walter Winkleblack. She grew up there with her siblings. The family moved around through the years and Barbara finished her school years at Watonga High School. She married her sweetheart Richard Daniel Glover on July 7, 1964. Together they raised three children, Debbie, Danny Jr. and Sherry. Barbara stayed home while the kids were young but she decided to get her GED and went to work as a Certified Nurses Aid. She worked at various nursing homes but especially enjoyed her time working in the Dually Diagnosed Unit at the Enid State School/NORSE until her retirement.
Barbara had many talents. She loved to sing and dance to any kind of music. Her hobbies include making ceramics, reading and sewing. She was great at gardening and canning what she raised or picked in the wild. She picked turnip greens and blackberries for Thanksgiving this year. She was a great cook and everyone enjoyed her home cooked meals. She was ornery, and enjoyed having a good time. Barbara and her brothers and sister were very close all through their lives. But her greatest joy was her grandbabies and great grands.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, son Danny Glover Jr., granddaughter Keri Ann Lowery and a sister Jeannie Kirkpatrick.
Barbara is survived by two daughters Debbie and Michael Brown of Helena, Sherry and Kelly Black of Bessemer, AL, three brothers; Jim, Ricky and Wayne Winkleblack, five sisters; Ethel Howard, Linda Lauminick, Donna Rauh, Janet Dorrell, and JoAnn Winkleblack, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude”s Children’s Research Hospital, with the funeral home acting as custodian of the funds.
