1930~2016
Geneva” Genny” June Lamle Bradford, 86, of Pond Creek has passed away and went to be with her Lord on December 29th, 2016. She was a resident of the Commons Nursing Home of Enid, a caring and loving community for the last six years of her life.
Geneva was born on her Grandfather’s, Gotlieb Lamle, farm south east of Okeene, Oklahoma on June 26, 1930 to Otto Lamle and Hulda Koch Lamle. Her earlier school years she attended a rural school outside of Okeene. When she was 10, the Lamle family moved to Watonga, Oklahoma. There Geneva attended Roosevelt School in Watonga and later graduated from Watonga High School with the class of 1948. She enrolled in Business at St. John’s Lutheran Jr. College in Winfield, Kansas, graduating and earning her degree in 1950. Geneva moved to Enid, Oklahoma and worked for Gold Spot Dairy as an Administrative Assistant.
Geneva met the love of her life, William “Bill” Bradford, through a mutual friend, Roscoe Grimes. After a double date, a bond developed between Geneva and Bill over the course of the next two years. A marriage to her best friend was followed on September 7, 1952 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Enid with a Honeymoon to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Geneva and Bill were blessed with four children: William “Bill” Eugene Bradford Jr., Steven Kenneth Bradford, Cynthia Kay Bradford Nieman and Caroline Diane Bradford Howell.
The next 64 years, Geneva would be the right hand to her husband on a farm that they lived on west of Pond Creek. During those years, Geneva and her family attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Enid where she belonged to the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML). Geneva was a member of the Rose Circle HCE Club of Pond Creek for 50 years. She was an active Parent Leader in the Pond Creek 4-H Club and Grant County Extension. Over the years, Geneva worked for Gold Spot Dairy, Bank Lumber company, The Methodist Home, Burgundy Retirement Home all of Enid and Dr. Deoney’s office in Pond Creek. Geneva owned her own ceramic shop, taught ceramic lesson and made many beautiful ceramic pieces. Geneva was especially proud to have built and enjoyed her own business for 20 years as a Mary Kay Consultant. Through all of them, her top priority was being a wife and mother.
Geneva will always be remembered to all of us as being a loving, witty and artistically talent individual. She loved to sew, crochet, knit and make her ceramics. She could create patterns from scratch out of newspaper, sew an entire ensemble of Easter outfits for all four children and crochet or knit an entire sweater in one evening while watching TV. She was very intelligent and quick with numbers, a fantastic cook and the family members can all guarantee she was the best at making Raisin Cream Pie, the family’s favorite and most often asked for dessert.
Geneva is preceded in death by her parents Hulda Koch Lamle and Otto Lamle; brothers Nathan, Harold and Walter Lamle; sister Wilene Lamle Smith and grandchildren Paige Nicole Bradford and William “Tre” Bradford III.
She is survived by her husband Bill Bradford of the home; children Bill Bradford Jr. of Clayton, North Carolina; Steven and wife Terry Bradford of Edmond, Oklahoma; Cindy and husband Jeff Nieman of Tecumseh, Oklahoma and Caroline and husband Jeff Howell of Edmond, Oklahoma. 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and her sister Delores Lamle Critchlow of Enid, Oklahoma.
