Betty Gean Hites 1936~2017

Funeral services for Betty Gean Hites, 80 year-old Watonga, Oklahoma resident, will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2017, 10:00 A.M. at the Trinity Baptist Church in Watonga with Carol Gilliland officiating. Burial will follow in West Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Watonga under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home of Weatherford. Betty was born September 17, 1936, in Fay, Oklahoma to Carl and Charlotte (Bingham) Elston and passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017, in Brookdale Sterling House in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Betty was raised in the Fay, Oklahoma area and attended school at Eagle City. On October 2, 1952, she married Harvey Blankenship. They made their home in California for two years while Harvey was in the military. Betty and Harvey returned to Oklahoma and lived in Clinton and later moved around to Amarillo, Liberal, and Watonga. She settled in Oklahoma City in 1965 and worked as a machinist for L & S Bearings, retiring in 2005. Betty enjoyed playing Bingo, crossword puzzles, and spending time with family and friends. Memorials may be made to the Brody Gene Sims Memorial Scholarship fund. Betty is survived by one son, Terry Blankenship and wife, Janet of Watonga, Oklahoma; one brother, Dale Elston and wife, Ann of Watonga, Oklahoma; two sisters, Pepper Hart of Watonga, Oklahoma and Carolyn Howard and husband, Jack of Ringwood, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, George; one sister, Eileene; one grandson, Terry Lee Blankenship II; one great-grandson, Brody Sims; and brother-in-law, Roy Hart.
