Bryan Kenneth Compton was born in DeQueen, Arkansas on August 23, 1919, to John Monroe and Mittie Carl Compton and passed away Friday, July 29, 2016 at the age of 96. Bryan’s family moved from Broken Bow to Watonga when Bryan was a small boy. He graduated from Watonga High School in 1938, then entered the US Army on January 23, 1941. He was discharged in September 1945 after serving in North Africa, Sicily, and Southern France. Bryan married Faynell Bryant in 1946. They resided in Watonga for a short time where Bryan worked for the county as a road grader operator and to this union, one son was born, Mike Compton. A few months later the family moved to Ventura County, California, where Bryan was employed in the construction industry. In 1962, Bryan moved back to Watonga where he continued to build homes. He married Grace Dill on November 15, 1963. Bryan and Grace moved to Stillwater in 1964 where he continued to build homes. In 2003 Bryan moved back to Watonga where he spent the remainder of his life gardening and enjoying friends and family. Bryan was preceded in death by his wife, Grace; his parents, 7 sisters; Thelma Gungoll of Enid, Kathryn Cosey of Bartlesville, Vera France of Watonga, Sherill Smith of Watonga, Margret Benway of Watonga, Marie Dickson of Watonga, Carmin Robbins of San Marcus, Texas, 3 brothers; Carl Compton, Paul Compton, and Hugh Compton all of Watonga. He is survived by one son Mike Compton of Watonga, OK., one grandson, Kelly Compton and wife Vonda of Watonga, one great granddaughter, Kacy Compton of Watonga, OK., as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church in Watonga. Funeral services for Bryan were held Friday, July 5, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Watonga with Rev. Adam Lovitt officiating. Burial followed in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Watonga, OK. Arrangements by Wilkinson Mortuary of Watonga.
